INTRODUCTION :
The DYPMC Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is rapidly developing up to be one of the most sought professional education & research referral library. It started its service in the year 1996. All bibliographic details of books, journals and CD-ROM databases are accessible through the campus wide network. The library has vast number of printed documents, and it subscribes to over 129 National and International Journals. It has established contacts with other organizations for exchange of the Institute's publications and inter-library loan arrangement.

OBJECTIVES :  
 
    

To select , acquire , preserve and disseminate relevant and latest information to our users.

 

To supply the latest information to all specialities in their respective field

 

To issue and return the books and other reading materials within reasonable time.

 

To display photographs, pamphlets and other relevant materials on notice boards.

 

To provide Information Communication Transmission (ICT) services to all the users (availability of the Books Author wise , Publisher wise , Title wise)

 

To assist the user to access the information on World Wide Web.

 
     
 

WORKING HOURS

The LRC is kept open almost throughout the year except on Public holidays where it remains closed.

Library Automation
We have adopted library software "SOFTLIB" where all the details of library housekeeping operations are made available and used for circulation the books and non book material to the users . We have provided the OPAC ( on-line public access catalogue) for users to save the time purpose by searching books by title , author , publisher, keywords .We have also providing on-line circulation with the help of Barcode technology.

ARRANGEMENT OF RESOURCES
The LRC has classified its knowledge resources according to the internationally recognized Dewey Decimal Classification System and to update the system . the process of implement 22 ed of D.D.C. is on the pipeline.

LIBRARY INTERCONNECTIVITY
The DYPMC LRC has interconnectivity with all health sciences colleges of Dr. D.Y. Patil Prathishtan ,Armed Forced Medical College Library ,Pune & B.J. Medical College Library, Pune to share knowledge resources and information to meet the requirements of our users.

LIBRARY COMMITTEE
The library committee formulates the policy and guidelines for the smooth functioning of library activities. It includes seven members in addition to the Chairman.

COMPUTERIZED INFORMATION RETRIEVAL
Considering the importance of computerization, the DYPMC LRC has setup an Information Centre. The library has prepared a database of books and periodicals in different subjects. The house- keeping activities like Acquisition, Serial control, Cataloguing, Circulation , OPAC have been automated by using " SoftLib " Software.

LRC provides Barcode Technology for speedy transfer of information to the user .The Library has adopted this system to provide timely services to their users. It also helps to save the time of the user.

In Internet section there are 10 Pentium PCs with Broadband connections of 512 KBPS bandwidth kept to provide the free services to our users. Users can access our in-house databases and CD-ROMs and other electronic resources available in the library. All PCs are connected with Local Area Network (LAN) to reduce the time of the user and one heavy-duty network printer is installed. Scanner facility is also provided to them to prepare their presentations.

The Whole Campus is Networked through Wi -Fi Technology to share information of Library.

Tea and Coffee made available in the premises of the Learning Resource Center.

Versatile wheel chair made available from the lift to the LRC for the handicapped students and faculty members.

The LRC gives the incentives by the way of Awards to the faculty and students of all branches once a year for making maximum use of it.

 

4.

The LRC provides training for Basic Computer Concepts, Information Retrieval and Database Search to the users.

 

5.

LRC staff update their working skills by attending their seminars / conferences.
