:: DEPARTMENTS / Department of Neurosurgery

The Neurosurgery Department at Dr.D.Y.Patil Hospital is a unique department that has brought laurels to this institution & will continue its efforts to do the same in the future. Here the most high-tech treatment is made available to the poorest of poor. Expensive supra-major surgeries like those of the brain-tumor, brain-haemorrhage are done absolutely free of cost when the patient is found to be genuinely poor.

The department has got one M.Ch. seat as per the approval of Medical Council of India whereby one candidate is admitted every year for the super-speciality course of M.Ch.(Neurosurgery). We select residents who have the aptitude & desire to enter full-time academic neurosurgery. We consider neurosurgery residents' training as our responsibility and our contribution to the vitality & advancement of our discipline.

Our team of neurosurgeons provides thorough evaluations, diagnoses and treatments for brain, nerve and spinal cord diseases and disorders in children and adults. Here each patient is treated as an unique individual and we encourage patients for open, frank communication as it is essential for effective medical care. We have compassion not only for the patients but also for the families who care for them.

We are fortunate to have excellent facilities and the most technologically advanced equipment which enable us treat the various neurosurgical diseases. On the top of this, the department has got some of the most experienced neurosurgeons. The results of this surgical experience have been presented in numerous professional forums which include many scientific publications, abstracts and presentations at national and international conferences.
