The department seeks to develop
knowledge, surgical skill, wisdom & encouragement
of its students to enable them to take the national
cause of prevention and treartment of blindness.
To achieve the aim, the leader or the head of
the department Dr. (Col) R. P. Gupta MS, DOMS,
FMRF (V-R), believes in imparting educational
excellence by training and grooming the student
through our teaching programme.
We have done exceptionally well
in the past and have vision and mission for the
future.
We have trained approx- 1200 students since inception
and each year our students have got distinctions
with 98-100% results.
The post graduate students are
not only trained to achieve professional excellence
but also to develop positive attitude, sensitivity
towards patients, passion for learning all of
which are an integral part of teaching programme.
As we march in the 21st century,
our department is committed to train our students
to become excellent doctors with compassion, dedication
and the ability to respond to the challenges in
the years to come.

AIMS
AND OBJECTIVES |

UNDER GRADUATES
The aim of teaching of students in ophthalmology
is to provide such knowledge and skills to the
student that shall enable him / her to practice
as a clinical and as a primary eye care physician.
To function effectively as a
community health leader to assist in the implementation
of National Programme for the prevention of blindness
and rehabilitation of the visually impaired.

The goal of post graduate medical education shall
be to produce competent specialists and teachers.

Who shall recognize the health needs of
the community, and carry out professional
obligations ethically and in keeping with
the objectives of the national policy.

Who shall have mastered most of the competencies,
pertaining to the specialty, that are required
to be practiced at the secondary and the
tertiary levels of the health care delivery
system.
